Also, Registered dietitians are the ONLY regulated nutrition professional and can help by providing expert guidance and support to you and your family based on current research and recommendations.

To be a registered dietitian, you must be registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario. Want to check if the person you are seeing is really a dietitian? Search their name in the “Register of Dietitians” section at 


Remember, the term “nutritionist” is not a protected title in Ontario and therefore anyone can use it. Be sure that you are getting trustworthy advice from a reliable source!

Allison Smith, BASc. RD


Allison Smith is a registered dietitian who received her BASc. in Nutrition from Ryerson University and completed an Accredited Internship Program with the Southeastern Ontario Comprehensive Dietetic Internship Program in 2004. With thirteen years of experience, she brings an educated and balanced approach to counselling patients about nutrition and healthy loving.

“I love all things outdoors; boating, fishing, hiking, camping, ATVing as well as running, working out and yoga. I enjoy sharing my passion for food and a healthy lifestyle. I aim to help others find their balance in nutrition and health,” she says.
