Leeds & Grenville Community Family Health Team Welcomes Back Dr. Marla Shapiro for HPV Learning
On Thursday, April 20, the Leeds & Grenville Community Family Health Team (LGCFHT) welcomed back celebrity Dr. Marla Shapiro to its Brockville site for a lunchtime learning opportunity about the Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
Shapiro, who met with the team in February to discuss herpes zoster (shingles), spoke to more than 20 staff members about emerging clinical data on HPV and optimizing counselling to improve immunization rates in women.
According to Linda Bisonette, LGCFHT Clinical Program Manager, Shapiro’s event was scheduled to the delight of the clinic’s physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, management and staff.
“We are so pleased that Dr. Shapiro could offer this excellent learning opportunity to our team,” said Jenny Lane, LGCFHT Executive Director. “She’s a wealth of knowledge and always provides us with such useful information.”
Bisonette worked with Merck Canada to make this learning opportunity possible for the LGCFHT team.
